History
Since 2003, Mecasoft has also been working in micromechanics.
To date, the company is the only one in Belgium using the 3D EDM micromilling. The process allows extremely small components to be made, down to 0.1 mm or even 10 microns for details of those components. It is applicable in all fields of micromechanics (Microsensor, micromoulding, aeronautics, nuclear, medical, …)
What exactly are we talking about?
It is important not to confuse "micromechanics" with "nanotechnologies".
Nanotechnologies are more related to chemistry, physics or electronics, and use processes that require very advanced laboratories.
Micromechanics is a machining technique (at Mecasoft, we use EDM), which complements conventional methods. We are partners and subcontractors to our customers.
Mecasoft works on parts of complex assemblies and enables customers to obtain extreme precision in these. Nevertheless, Mecasoft can make complex 3D shapes by taking care of all the parts submitted by the customer.
Applications
In the 3 years that we have been doing it, micromechanics at Mecasoft has already been used in many fields:
- Medical :
- Cancer treatment
- Microsurgery tools
- Micromachining on shape-retaining materials
- Aeronautics :
- Cooling systems
- Calibration of hydraulic parts
- Micro lubrification
- Gripping tools for micromechanisms
- Micro injection :
- Parts of moulds
- Specimens for testing
- Etc. …
