CAD and CAM: IT applied to mechanical engineering

To analyse the feasibility and simulate the development of parts by electron discharge machining, Mecasoft uses Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) processes.

• CAD enables the design of the component to be generated and displayed virtually in 3D, tested, and enables any constraints to be observed.

• CAD consists of linking the EDM machine to a control computer which has the profile and precise contours of the part to be produced in its memory, and can control and guide the manufacture of the part.

Several workstations and many software programs
